We come nearest to great when we are great in humility.

Take stock of the people you surround yourself with, in the gym or at work. Are you the smartest, fastest, strongest…….? Perhaps it is time for a change of venue.

I recently started working out at a new facility in Boston. I thought I was in good shape based on my consistent and intense workout regimen. My definition of “in good shape” was about to receive a major overhaul. I found myself surrounded by people who were bigger, faster and stronger. After each workout your scores/weights are posted in large print on the wall in the front of the gym for all to see. I am almost always last.
I am not going to lie; it does not feel good to have the slowest time on the board or the least amount of weight. It DOES feel good to be surrounded by people who consistently inspire me to be better. A humble person doesn't feel the need to be the greatest but that does not mean a humble person does not aspire to be great.
My own change of venue has allowed me to realize how much more I have to learn and how much room I have to grow.
